Guest submission by my daughter, Patience Ward. Several weeks ago she sent me an essay titled “Breaking Barriers” and I posted it. The response was so good I asked her if she would be interested in submitting articles on a regular basis. She took me up on my offer. The following is her latest submission. – TW
Have you ever been overwhelmed with work?
Housework? Office work? Homework?
Well if you have, I’m sure all you wanted to do was sleep or take a relaxing bath. I’ve recently had a lot of those moments when I felt like I was in too deep, and thinking, ‘Why do I have to do this? I don’t have to do it perfectly. It’s just school.’
Then I remembered it is JUST school! It’s just school that my career will rely on. Just school that shapes my future. That’s WHY I’m doing this. If I don’t do my best, I won’t have my best job. Obviously, since I usually try to do my best on everything, I get those overwhelming feelings often.
My advice? Just calm down and take a breath. Don’t lose sight of why you’re doing what you’re doing. Also remember, procrastination does not reward you;)
